New Technical Officer for IPHE

Photo: Danny DavisThe Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Danny Davis as the new Technical Officer.

Danny (23) joins the IPHE from P W Davis & Son Ltd, where he gained a wealth of experience and knowledge over the last 5 years. Even before joining the family business on a formal basis, he worked as an apprentice to his father for many years during college and school holidays.

In January 2004, selected from a strong field of applicants, he became the first winner of the Raymond J. Brooks Scholarship, sponsored by BPEC (Training) and HVP magazine. As the first recipient of this prestigious Scholarship, he chose to visit the USA where he had the opportunity to see the American plumbing industry at first hand. Visiting training, testing and research facilities, attending site visits and in particular examining their approach to education and training, allowed him to gain a valuable insight into the differences and similarities of the UK and USA industries. He also attended the IAPMO/World Plumbing Council Symposium on SARS. The importance of education, lifelong learning and codes of practice were very significant throughout the whole visit.

At the IPHE Danny will have an opportunity to further broaden his already worthy experience and industry knowledge, whilst providing a valuable service to IPHE members, the general public and industry, and essential assistance to the current staff.
