Dinner with the President
Around 38 guests had dinner with the President of the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (IPHE) on 22nd February at the Café Royal, London.
Len Gold EngTech MIPHE RP, National President for 2004/2005 invited leading figures from the plumbing and heating industry to join him for the evening. After the meal, Len talked about his imminent trip to Hong Kong to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Institute’s 900 strong Hong Kong Council. Afterwards, Len and his wife Angela will travel on to New Zealand to attend the 7th World Plumbing Conference.
Commenting on the work of the World Plumbing Council, Len said: “The world today is indeed a global village and the Boxing Day tsunami disaster in South East Asia has brought that home to us all. Through the co-ordinating role of the World Plumbing Council – the secretariat of which is based at IPHE Head Office – I hope we can implement some practical measures that will bring safe water and efficient sanitation to those affected now and in the future. Already, we are providing some useful advice via the WPC website – worldplumbing.org.”
The President went on to say: “The links between good plumbing and public health is something that we need to constantly emphasise to our politicians, civil servants and the public at large. The fact that water related incidents don’t kill as many people as those related to gas, is no excuse for indifference or complacency.”
After detailing the Institute’s many achievements in 2004, Len warmly thanked his special guests for making his evening so memorable and presented Angela with a bouquet of flowers.
