Beating the boiler blues
Autumn is here and the closest many of us will get to the stifling heat of the hot summer just gone is climbing into a bed with the electric blanket on full blast. Unfortunately for some, this might be their only option for warmth if their central heating and hot water system breaks down.With a nationwide skills shortage, finding a plumbing and heating engineer in an emergency can be a nightmare. The Institute of Plumbing (IoP) is advising all homeowners to get their central heating and plumbing systems serviced yearly, so that any minor problems can be rectified before they turn into major headaches. Dale Courtman, Technical Director for the Institute commented, "Without regular maintenance plumbing and central heating systems can develop minor faults which (in the case of central heating systems) will only make themselves known when the heating is turned on. Regular maintenance will keep the system working better and for longer."
Just as you have your car serviced and MOTed you should also service and MOT your home. Plumbing systems deal with safe drinking water and sanitation, heating systems deal with dangerous substances such as gas and carbon monoxide. A yearly service of your central heating and plumbing system as a must as it can give you peace of mind when it comes to the most important things you have – your life, your family and your home.
